How to play TagYouIt

TagYouIt is a word game where guessing words earns you coins, and coins let you buy your own little town.

Here is the whole game in four steps:

1. Guess the secret five-letter word.
2. Get coins for guessing it.
3. Use your coins to buy places in town, like a cafe or a bookstore.
4. Your places earn more coins for you every hour, even when you are not playing.

You start with 1,250 coins and two places you already own: Sunrise Cafe and Little Acorn Park. The goal is to grow your town and become the richest builder.

The game hides a secret word with five letters. You get six tries to find it.

1. Type any five-letter word. You can use your keyboard or tap the letters on the screen.
2. Press Enter.
3. Look at the colors. Each letter changes color to give you a clue.

Example. The secret word is VILLA, and you guess SLATE:

• S turns gray. There is no S in VILLA.
• L turns gold. VILLA has an L, just not in the second spot.
• A turns gold. VILLA has an A, just not in the third spot.
• T and E turn gray.

Now you know the word has an L and an A, and no S, T or E. Use those clues for your next guess. Keep going until every letter is green!

The letters on the on-screen keyboard change color too, so you can see which letters you already tried.

The faster you guess the word, the more coins you get.

Even if you don't find the word, you still get 50 coins for trying. Practice words pay half of these amounts.

Every place you own earns coins every hour. These coins are called rent.

Think of it like a piggy bank that fills up by itself. Your rent waits in the piggy bank until you press Collect rent. Then the coins move into your wallet.

Watch out: the piggy bank gets full after 8 hours. When it is full, it stops filling up. So come back a few times a day to empty it!

Here are all the places in town:

You already own the park and the cafe when you start. To buy a new place, press its Buy button. The button stays gray until you have enough coins.

There are two ways to make your places earn more rent.

1. Upgrade a place. Press Upgrade on a place you own. Each upgrade makes it earn half again as much rent. A place can go up to level 3.

Upgrades take time to build, like real construction:

• Level 1 to level 2 takes 1 hour.
• Level 2 to level 3 takes 2 hours.

While it is being built, the place still earns rent at its old level. When the timer ends, the upgrade is done.

2. Collect a set. Every place has a type: Food, Leisure, Retail or Creative. Each type has two places. If you own both places of the same type, you finish a set, and both of them earn 25% more rent.

For example, owning Bluebird Books and Corner Market finishes the Retail set.

There are three new words every day. Each one is only open for part of the day, so try not to miss them!

Everyone in the game gets the same words at the same time. If you miss a word's time, it closes and you can't play it anymore.

Practice words. Want to play more? Press Practice. Practice words pay half the coins. You get 3 practice tokens, and each practice word uses one. A used token comes back every 3 hours.

Streaks. Solve at least one word every day to grow your streak. If you skip a whole day, your streak goes back to 0.

A good day might look like this:

1. Before school: solve the morning word and collect your rent.
2. After school: solve the afternoon word, collect rent, and buy a new place.
3. After dinner: solve the evening word and start an upgrade that finishes while you sleep.

You can play two ways.

Good news: if you play as a guest and then make an account, your town comes with you. Nothing is lost. Create a free account.

Logging out: when you log out, the game starts a fresh guest town. Your real town is safe in your account. Sign back in to see it again.

Your rank shows how big your town is. It goes up as your net worth grows. Net worth means all your coins plus what all your places are worth.

Tips from the pros:

• Start your guess with SLATE. It tests five of the most common letters.
• Never reuse gray letters. They are not in the word, so they waste a guess.
• Collect rent before you go to bed. That way the piggy bank has 8 hours to fill.
• Buy cheap places first. They start paying you back sooner.
• Finish sets. Two places of the same type earn 25% more together.
• Don't spend every coin. Keep some saved for the next place you want.
